Academic Success
At Boys & Girls Club of Rochester, we want every member to realize their full potential, and that journey begins with academic success. Based on a 2023 survey, 58% of our teen members expect to receive a 4-year college degree or greater, and 33% expect to attend a junior college or a trade school.
Our goal is for every member to graduate on-time with a plan for their future, whether that plan is post-secondary education or starting a career. We empower our members and support their academic success through various high-yield learning programs.
Summer Brain Gain
To prevent the summer slide that many members face each year, Summer Brain Gain offers fun, exciting educational activities for members of all ages.
Power Hour offers a structured time and place for Club staff and volunteers to support Club members in achieving academic success by providing homework help, tutoring, and high-yield learning activities. In Power Hour you can expect to see members working on homework, grade-aligned reading, and other fun educational activities.

STEM Mentoring
STEM Mentoring is a group mentoring program that connects small groups of youth with caring mentors to engage in structured, hands-on, multimedia STEM activities. The overall goal is to positively impact the social development and interest in STEM related careers of our members.
Club staff help teens build their job-search skills and job readiness by using the Career Launch Facilitator Guide and working with teens individually or in small groups. The Career Launch program provides Club members with online career exploration, college and job search information and interactive activities. Mentoring, job shadowing and training opportunities round out the program.
